Look for what ties them together. If the suit repeats, the theme is one: Wands are action, Cups are feelings, Swords are thoughts and words, Pentacles are money and daily life. Many Major Arcana mean a big turn rather than a small matter. Then see where the movement from the first card to the third leads. A single connected answer across all three cards is what the paid interpretation gives.
Yes - in the 3-card spread the position is random and a card can land reversed, which softens, slows down or turns its meaning inward. Every card page has a separate section for its reversed meaning. In the card of the day and the Yes or No reading the cards are always upright.
